I think it is one of the best movies since Star Wars and Titanic. The only difference is that I would see it more then once.
If you havent read the books you prolly wont like the movie as much as the ppl that have. I`ve never read ANY of the books so i didnt think the movie was THAT GREAT... its long, borring and the character development sux.. i dont even know the names of the other 2 white guys.. the only characters i know of are Frodo,Gandalf and Strider dude (sps?) the ending was STUPID and now i have to wait for the sequel next year just to see wtf happens... anyway, it wasnt all that bad.. overall a good adventure movie but its not for everyone...
5 stars all around nice and long..... action... amazing screenplay great actors GREAT FLICK i can watch this again, again and again
Very good, but it`s going to be a long wait till the sequels.
The best novel interpretation I`ve seen
BEST MOVIE EVER! FIRST MOVIE THAT I HAVE SEEN THREE TIMES IN MY LIFE! I HATE PEOPLE WHO RATE THE MOVIE ON HOW LONG IT IS BECAUSE THAT IS JUST IDIOTIC. GREAT STORY AND GREAT IMAGERY.
I thought it was a mix of harry potter and Narnia although it brought you back to the olden days. Anyways I think it was the coolest movie ever made and hopefully the second book will come out to movie soon!
It`s about time The Lord of the Rings was made into a movie. They did a masterful job at bringing the world Tolkien created long ago to life......10 stars....I love`d it!
very well done
Elijah is the best!! He is just one of the things that made this movie Rock!! GO LOTR`s....
This movie was so good! jam-packed with intrigue, action and mystical creatures, this movie surely rocks. I give it a full *****!!!! A must see.....
Who ever said the movie sucked obviously dosen`t like fantasy so he can go straight to H***. It was the best movie any hollwood or any other film making place has ever made. PERIOD.
I first read LOTR when I was in my early twenties, so I have been waiting more than 20 years for this movie. Given that NO movie could possibly match the images that Tolkien placed in my head, this latest attempt was excellent! I could quibble about the heroic role that PJ gives to Arwen, or the fact that the inscription is supposed to appear on the INSIDE of the ring or the fact that the "duel" between Saruman and Gandalf really belonged more to Motal Kombat than Tolkien, but why bother?! Peter Jackson has delivered a "ripping yarn" that will appeal to both Tolkien "veterans" and "rookies". Bring on Part 2!!!!
To all you peeps who think it was too long, GET A REALITY CHECK!! you are askin Peter Jackson to put a 1000 some odd pages book into like 2 hours???? Jeeze picky picky~~ It was the most awesome movie I have ever seen (and believe me I have seen ALOT of movies) by the way Orlando Bloom and Elijah Wood and Viggo Morteson are the hottest guys to eva hit hollywood!!! Get lost Brads Pitt!!!!
The movie kicked a**!!! LOTR rules! Orlando Bloom and Elijah Wood are soooooo hot!!!!!
the movie was terriable
It`s a stunning film and I`m eager for part II!
Great effects! Nice storyline. It keeps you interested even though the movie is long, you never would know it! A must see, indeed! I don`t think I can wait until late 2002 to see the next installment!!! Nice Job.
The movie seemed too long and I was just waiting for it to end but congrats to those who did the amazing graphics. The costumes and scenery were great. Good job! *Clap clap*
I thought it was really confusing and hard to understand. Some of the characters didn`t even seem nessary in the story.
this should be the only movie nominated for the oscars cause its gonna take home every award!!
that was the stupiedest movie in the hole world and dont read the books they suck too
The movie is true to the first Tolkien novel. I was impressed by how close the movie was in comparison to how I had imagined it when reading the book. I`m looking forward for the next two journeys. I also find that this movie was technically perfect!
pretty good. though definitely better if you`ve read the book.
a great movie, to anyone that is complaining that it doesn`t follow the book: too bad! quit your babylike whining. Make your own version if you want to.
movie was very long and very good.
Well done as a literary translation
This movie absolutely ROCKED!!! I can`t wait to see the next ones!
I believe that the 3 hours allocated to this movie could have been used more effectively to develop the characters. The essence of this movie lies in the characters and this first of three movies should have been more towards expanding the key players in the entire series rather than jamming it with too much action and adventure way too soon.
OH MY GAWD! IT WAS GREAT!
It was very repetitive, but over all it`s a great movie.
WAS AN AMAZING MOVIE!!!
I think that THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING was a great movie and did exceptionally well at representing many of Tolkien`s ideas in Middle Earth. My only regret was that it didn;t go as in depth as I would have liked. It was though justified to play with the story in the ways they did in order to make it into a movie, but I really would have liked to have had more development behind what went on while they were traveling through the Shire and in Lothlorien. This may have added that extra sense of realism at the expense of a little more time..., however that may not have worked as well... I give LOTR: FOTR five stars... thou
simply amazing period!
why must i wait until christmas 2002 to see the next movie? RELEASE IT NOW!!!
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!I loved it! That kind of movie isn`t even my thing but WHOA I want to see it again!I`m buying it of course. You sure can feel the tension between the ring and it`s holder. Sometimes even I wanted to have the ring to myself...........<`_`>
i thought it was REALLY good! one of the best movies ive seen in a while. the cast was amazing! elijah wood is a great actor and deserves more recognition. maybe he`ll get that now because of this movie.
It was the best movie I`ve ever seen!!! I swear! Around 3 hours was definately not long enough for me! And they chose everyone to play the parts really well. Everyone did an amazing job. Infact, I`m going to see the movie again, and again... and so on.
Exceptional amount of intrigues and happenings in this fast paced story. Though each sequense of intrigue are rather short, which is rather disappointing. You have a feeling that you haven`t seen enough of it, but yet you have seen 178 minutes of it. The one thing that lacks in such movie is the lack of coherence between the computer animated sequence with the compelling story behind it from the book. There are a few place that could`ve been better. Meaning punch more different views of the same place, without diminishing the good story telling of the movie. The reason is that the movies packs alot of places and intrigues (around 10 or so
I thought Lord Of The Rings was a EXELLENT movie
