Jurassic World: The Exhibition is an experience not to be missed if you love the Jurassic Park/Jurassic World movies and/or if you're a fan of dinosaurs. It has just been extended to January 3, 2024, so make sure you don't miss out!
The Exhibition allows you to pet a baby dinosaur and see several different types of dinosaurs up close as they roar above your head. In the Creation Lab, you can see baby dinos, learn about dinosaur eggs and fossils from the prehistoric era.
At the Hammonds Creation Lab, children get to sift through sand to uncover fossils. I attended The Exhibition with a friend and her three-year-old son, who was fascinated by this area -- he couldn't get enough of it. Luckily, there's no time limit on how long you want to spend at any exhibit.
We weren't sure at first if the huge, roaring dinosaurs would frighten him -- but he took it all in stride, as did all the other toddlers that attended the tour during the time we were there. He even petted the baby dinosaur.
Two areas had dimmed lights and in one, we were in a darkened passageway between two dinosaurs as they roared over the fences at each other.
In another, a handler brought a dino out from behind gates (but within a security fence) to let the massive creature run around -- when they got into trouble.
We had the chance to try out a stationary Gyrosphere, like the one the two boys in the 2015 movie Jurassic World rode around on.
The dinosaurs at The Exhibition were incredibly lifelike. I spoke with Zoe Tan, Senior Vice President at NEON, which created this exhibition as well as many more, about how the dinos were made. She revealed, "We build all of our dinosaurs in-house, but we do work very closely with Universal [Studios] as well as Amblin Entertainment (the creators of the Jurassic Park/World movies)." The result is that you'll see dinosaurs that look exactly like the ones from the films.
Afterwards, you can browse in the gift shop, which offers toy dinosaurs, T-shirts, Jurassic Park pins, mugs and more. Jurassic World: The Exhibition is located at Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga, just a short drive from Toronto. Click here for more information and to get tickets.
