I know there's always questions if it's a real Christmas movie, but Die Hard!!!!
IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE Christmas Gift Guide Giveaway #1: Movie and TV-themed books!
It is very hard to pick a favourite since there are so many, but my ultimate pick would have to be Die Hard. Many good selections already mentioned, so let me add "Mixed Nuts" to the list of best Christmas movies that I love.
The Santa Clause
There are so many great movies that I watch every Christmas, but I'd have to say it's a tie for my favorite. The sentimentalist in me would go with It's A Wonderful Life, Capra's film that always brings a tear to my eye with its message of "no man is a failure who has friends", but the horror fan in me has to go with Bob Clark's 1974 classic Black Christmas. What says "Joyeux Noel" better than a group of sorority sisters being stalked and killed one by one by a homicidal maniac hiding out in their house's attic? Happy festive season to all!
So many to choose from, but an absolute fave is, The Family Stone.
Love Actually
Miracle On 34th Street (1947) edition
Elf
Holiday (1938) with Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn. Perfect romantic comedy set at Christmas.
A Muppet Christmas Carol
It has to be Christmas Vacation I still remember watching it opening day with my Mom December 1 1989 at Westwood Theater in Etobicoke. We laughed so hard throughout the movie and after it was finished we wanted to watch it again so we asked the usher and he said there were no more showings for the night. Just before we left my Mom had to use the washroom and she accidentally flushed her glasses down the toilet but we were in such a good mood after watching the movie that we just laughed it off. Great night that we won't ever forget. Still watch it every year since as part of a tradition.
About a Boy is my all time favorite
The Santa Clause - was obsessed with this movie when I was a kid, I’d even watch it in the summer haha. It gets better each year now that I am older as well. Such a classic!! The sequels aren’t bad either, but the original is still the best.
